Byron Bay hinterland, NSW
I live in northern NSW surrounded by beautiful landscapes, rainforest, gardens and beaches. This is the inspiration for most of my paintings. I paint in oils and acrylics and love to preserve what I see. I am fascinated by light, shadows and reflections and include some form of these in most of my paintings.
Inspired by the beauty of nature, Sigrid’s work has a strong focus on Australian native flora. Embracing the need for our lands, gardens and habitats to engage the natural environment and the ancient wisdom in caring for it, many of her works have an underlying message of the disconnect between the new and old knowledges.
Sigrid Patterson works mainly with oils using texture and reflection. She brings these into her works through the translucent smoothness of glass, woody elements of many of our Australian flowers, nuts and bark, delicate petals and moody backgrounds.
