Printmaker – Connecting with what’s there at the time – attraction – object – mood.
Robin Saunder’s art practice emerged back in 1997 after embarking on a ‘yes year’ and discovering the artist within.
Today that same free spirit continues to inspire Robin to spontaneously work with “what’s there at the time”. Predominantly printmaking and drawing, she often uses discarded objects as symbols in an an ever evolving inner narrative. Her work may include hidden words and playful doodlings and everything unintentional is embraced as a preferred ‘unconscious’ outcome.
Robin says her art practice is ‘therapy’ and she aligns with the French/American artist Louise Bourgeois’s words when she speaks on the evolution of her work – Bourgeois says, “I understand myself better and better”.
