NSW North Coast
Contemporary abstract seascape painter Patricia Walsh is based on the NSW North Coast. She draws inspiration from the extraordinary beauty of Byron Bay coastlines and hinterlands. “The works explore the constant shifts in the landscape that I observe and absorb whilst in the midst of nature, surrounded by dramatic coastlines and the elements that shape them. Each painting resonates with stories of the Byron coast as I respond to the sounds, windswept seas, rain, rocky outcrops, changing light, salt spray – the drama, the energy, the freedom”.
Patricia represents these land and seascapes with a particular focus on colour, texture, mood and light to create her atmospheric abstract impressionist paintings, connecting traditional techniques with contemporary practice. Exhibiting regularly, her works are held in numerous art collections.
Walsh is a consistent finalist in major national art awards including The Glover Prize for Landscape, Pro Hart Art Prize, Waverley 9×5 Impressionist Landscape Prize , Adelaide ParkLands Art Prize, John Villiers Art Prize, Stanthorpe Art Prize, The Morris Art Prize, Lethbridge Art Award and more.
