Maria Radun is an emerging artist living in Melbourne.
Fine Arts graduate, Monash University.
Finalist 2019 Wyndham Art Prize and Ravenswood Australian Womens Art Prize.
Born in Russia, Maria Radun is a figurative painter, working in a modern realistic style. She draws inspiration from the character and individuality of her models and subjects as well as her own personal experience of the world.
Since early childhood she has had great interest in the visual arts and drawing has always been her primary method of self-expression. This led to pursuing creative work such as graphic design and illustration in her twenties. After a number of years working as a freelance designer, but feeling a growing sense of calling towards a vocation to be an artist, she enrolled into a fine arts course and committed wholeheartedly to painting.
Today Maria is a full-time painter working from her studio located on the beautiful beaches of the Mornington Peninsula, in Victoria. Through her art she strives to understand her subjects on a deeper level, exploring both personal and universal ideas, while continuously working to improve her skills and knowledge of oil painting.
Portraiture, human form, still-life and the the natural world are her most depicted subjects.
