Artists Statement: Never one to be Pigeon-holed in life, I love to paint a variety of subject matter mostly Nature Art and Landscape Art. My style is abstract/semi-abstract, fun; playful and non-conformist (I do not adhere to traditional painting ‘rules’). I would rather be authentically myself and express that in my own unique way on a canvas. I believe we all need to escape from the everyday in life and my paintings can take you to another place, even for a moment, during a busy day. Walk in my Wild Flowers, or let my sea themed Japanese paperclay 3D art remind you of days at the beach. Get happy when viewing my colourful Tiny Town paintings or lost in the beauty of trees and texture. I would describe my paintings in these words – authentic, brave, fun, escape, playful, innocent and warm-hearted.
Biography: I live and work from my home Art Studio in Wimalee NSW, Australia. From the moment I could hold a crayon I have been drawing and painting. I am self-taught and have developed my own distinctive style over many years based on my passion for nature, colour, pattern, texture and my own vivid imagination. My art career started later in life after many years working in the corporate world when I had back surgery in 2009 and had to stop work for an extended period. While recovering, I was utterly bored and started to draw and paint again. My passion for art again became an essential part of my life. Although I did resume corporate work again for a while, in 2011 my life completely fell apart. My wonderful Husband had a breakdown from work stress and months later my only Son was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer (Glioblastoma Multiforme stage 4). The ONLY thing I did when I was not caring for my Son was draw and paint. My passion for art also became my therapy during a time I thought I was loosing my mind from grief and depression. When my outer world was grey and sad, a canvas and paint could let me find my inner joy again. It literally saved me and led me to my art career.
I am blessed that many of my original paintings and prints grace Art Collections, Homes and Offices around the world. I have also achieved commercial success with Art Licensing to both Australian and International companies. Over the years, I have participated in numerous group and solo art exhibitions. My first Solo Exhibition at The Pine Street Gallery, Chippendale, Sydney was featured in The Sydney Morning Herald’s Spectrum Section in 2013. That same year I was included in the ‘Undiscovered’ feature of Art Collector Magazine & Art Edit. Last year I was a Featured Acrylic Artist on Empty Easel.com and this year my wild flower art was Showcased by Artsy Shark.
I hope one of my paintings resonates with you and goes to live in your world. ***Please know that I do take Commissions – your size, colours, subject matter and that Visits to see my paintings in real life are possible by appointment.
