As a self-taught artist, my artistic journey ignited in 2015, passion for art stirred, immersed by the pleasure of creating realistic depictions from everyday objects.
My gallery of work showcases my love of; colour (in fabrics, ceramics, metals, jugs, vases), the Chinese culture (robes, symbols), nature (flowing trees, cascading flowers, sparkling water), exterior/interior texture (stucco walls, wrought iron, facades), and still life (luscious fruit, transparent glass, translucent petals)
I enjoy capturing detailing, translucency, unity, atmospheric perspective, flow and movement in all my paintings. In doing so, the viewer is engaged by the composition and energised by the harmonious colour palette, hence the reason why the colour wheel is my constant companion.
The mediums that excite me are watercolours, acrylics and pastels. I get so much satisfaction experimenting with my underpaintings using mineral spirits, creating texture using modelling paste, working in lots of layers to reveal the crescendo of my finished paintings.
