Grace Brown was born in Victoria and is a proud Wurundjeri woman. Woiwurrung is her language group and is shared by the other tribal territory groups and clans within the Woiwurrung territory. Grace has been on a journey to find her heritage on her grandmothers side and with many years and much research, she now knows where on country she belongs. Grace lived in north east Victoria for most of her life but now resides on the Gold Coast in Queensland.
Grace has always been an artist and after year 12 she studied at fine arts school at Boxhill in the 1980’s and achieved a VOP and TOP in fine arts.
She has many years of experience with different mediums and subjects but now she is dedicating her life to aboriginal art and culture to find herself and learn everything about the dreamtime stories from her elders and her culture.
Grace is now studying an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Art Course in 2020 and hopes to teach her craft and indigenous dreamtime stories to the next generation. Grace’s family also owns mines in Yowah Queensland where the opal embedded in her paintings is from. She has travelled extensively throughout Australia and will paint a wide variety of subjects close to her heart and her heritage.
Enjoy her beautiful work!
