I am a fine artist who paints on silk, my paintings are labour intensive, drawing on paper first then transferring these drawings to the silk. I then outline the drawings in gutta (a resist) then I paint with dyes until the colours are very intense. Once finished which can take up to a full week or more, I then steam the silk which sets and intensifies the colours. They are then stretched onto acid free board and then framed under glass with a matt to keep the silk free of the glass. I come from a family that takes great pleasure and pride in their gardens and so my main subjects are flowers which the painting on silk brings out the best in the colours. Other subjects that I have painted on the silk are our beautiful birds and fauna.
I was born in Perth, Western Australia. On the maternal side I am a 5th generation Australian. I have always drawn and painted from an early age, with my 1st paintings at 11years being framed and taken to Singapore by my teacher. I married in 1975 to Peter whom I met at art college when taking a photography design class. I have 2 children, a daughter and a son and 2 grandsons.
I live on a beautiful bush block in the Perth hills surrounded by kangaroos, possums bandicoots and other wildlife and native flora.
