Self-taught abstract artist
Carly is a self taught or experimental artist drawn to colour, light and texture.
Carly has been exploring different mediums since first picking up a paintbrush and taking art seriously in 2014.
Along the way both fluid and heavy bodied acrylics, acrylic ink, alcohol ink, enamel, spray paint, resin, oil pastels and watercolours have all been tried and tested. After working with all of these mediums and seeing their results Carly found she was most drawn to works that seemed delicate yet textured.
Carly prefers to primarily use acrylic inks and paint to achieve the textured and floaty layered finish on canvas, which is a style she have been developing over the past few months.
Carly’s paintings are created through intuitive responses, with the process being completely organic and spontaneous.
Inspiration comes from the colours and forms found in nature.
Living between the luscious Barrington Tops and the gorgeous coast of Port Stephens means Carly has a never ending diverse source of inspiration.
Carly has participated in 3 group shows including a NSW Health Initiative. ‘Art for Waratah’ and a group show, ‘Bouquet of Colour’ at the Top Hat Gallery on the mid north coast of NSW.
