The journey of art that I am on appears to be a little unique to say the least.
My earliest art memory was a dear old engineer neighbor trying to teach me to draw tornado’s with a pencil by changing pressure. Rolls of butchers paper and various colouring implements from my parents followed. Being raised on the Gower Peninsula, (South Wales, UK) I grew to appreciate colour, light and shade.
An art and science education opened my mind to scale and subtlety, to observe and question. It might seem ironic from that first art memory that I became both engineer and artist. A career working with many automotive styling studios around the world taught me the power of combining both aspects my duality, whilst also appreciating how people see the world through different eyes.
Almost loosing an arm in an accident, and having (first learning to be left handed and then) to reteach myself how to write and paint right handed added a whole new life experience.
Moving to Australia almost 20 years ago has shown me a different colour palette to enjoy, and rekindled my taught / self taught artistic side. Only in more recent years have I started to really appreciate the significance that art can have in peoples lives. Which is where I find myself on the next part of my journey of discovery. I hope you enjoy some of it too.
