Additional Information

I would have loved to have titled this piece “Chinese Whispers” but on researching these delightful creatures, I learnt that koi were infact introduced to the Chinese by Japan, and in both cultures, are considered to represent good fortune. I just love the symbol that koi represent, courage, perserverance & strength in times of adversity. The fact that they swin upstream, against the tide, is a metaphor for the difficulties we encounter in our lives and how we learn to overcome them, building personal strength. I find them delightful to paint and enjoy capturing their movement and personalities.
