  • What Lies Beneath Dyptich

Additional Information

This painting is of a small coastal Island off the Sunshine Coast, called Mudjimba Island. The island features prominently in the traditional peoples dreamtime story of Coolum, Sunshine Coast. I whimsically think there could be a bigger mystery to What Lies Beneath, it’s local name, “Old Woman Island.” With its visible layers of soft light coloured sandstone which date back millions of years, it is an unmistakeable part of the Sunny Coast’s skyline with its beautiful surrounds of rocks and reef. The island’s landscape reflects many colours and moods throughout the day. This original work is a diptych (pronounced dip-tick), which is a work of two parts designed to be separated by no more than 8 centimetres. It is entirely your preference to hang them as one work or separate them as two individual pieces.
