Additional Information

The North and South Islands of Bruny Island are linked by The Neck.
Bruny Island was often the first landfall and safe harbor that the early settlers found after battling the Roaring Forties.
In this piece I wanted to show the deep, turbulent ocean on one side of The Link, on the other – the peaceful, gentle, safe anchorage for the weary traveler.
This mimics the trials and tribulations that life throws at us. We battle our own storms and hopefully come through to find a safe and peaceful haven. The Yin and Yan of life if you will.
The painting support is composite board, which I like to use for its smooth surface, this is supported by a wooden cradle. I also like the joy of using oil paint, for the richness of the pigments and the beautiful glazes you can build with layers of transparent paint. The simplicity of paring down the shapes that you see to simple forms, but still being able to hold onto a recognizable form is part of the beauty of landscapes.

As with all of my works, it is an original and a one of a kind, I do not make prints from any of my works.
The paintings are signed on the front with my name ‘Lucinda’ and come with a Certificate of Authenticity. I only use Artist quality materials in the production of my artwork – archival, quality paper for my watercolours, well prepared support for my oil paintings and both use artist pigments.
All pieces are available framed if you would like, please get in touch. My framer has promised me a particularly fast turnaround as long as the frames and matts are in stock, so add another one to two days for delivery (additional cost for framing will apply – please ask for a quote).
The piece will arrive wrapped well in bubble wrap and packed within a sturdy cardboard container, sometimes recycled ( I like to recycle), any glass will be taped to help prevent cracking, it may not be the prettiest on the outside but the contents will arrive safe and sound.
