This work is thought provoking and challenges the viewer to see different historical viewpoints, thereby making it a great work to feature in a foyer, public space or lounge room. This painting shows what I think it may have been like for the early Antipodeans during the white mans’ settlement of Australia. The settlers are pictured in the moonlight rowing ashore to a strange land, unaware of what they would discover. Whilst, a traditional man in the foreground cannot believe his eyes, perplexed and tentative about what he is seeing for the first time. It can been seen as either an unparalleled adventure or an unwanted invasion, depending on what side of the shore you are looking at it from.
