Additional Information

“Take a Deep Breath” is a nostalgic look at a Lockheed Vega aeroplane flying over a coal fired power plant in the 1930s. In the early 20th century scenes like this signified progress and the ability of humans to harness natural resources for the good of everyone. In the early 21st century scenes such as this no longer signify progress but rather societies run by big corporations to the detriment of everyone except stockholders. Since participating in the very first Earth Day on 22 April 1970 I have felt strongly about saving our planet for future generations so I aimed the title of this painting squarely at climate change deniers.
