Additional Information

I feature colour in the sky, the blue dwarfed by the Sydney Opera House white sails, and the people gliding through the interior. The painting forms part of my grey tone series. The curved edge of the plated glass windows provided interesting light reflection and a spaceship appearance to the Opera House. The curved shape on the walkway has me thinking of time spent watching “Lost In Space” in the 1970s on B&W and then Colour TV.

Construction of the Sydney Opera House was completed in three building stages from 1959 to 1973. And opened by the Queen with locals watching in shop windows on colour TV. With construction taking so long the exposed concrete beams already look well aged by the 1970s. This artwork has been inspired by my black and white photography with this photo taken in 1979.
