Acrylic and Watercolour on stretched watercolour canvas

Australian Birdlife created with mixed media on canvas, stretched and ready to hang. Products used are:  Daniel Smith Iridescent watercolours and golden ground, Matisse structure and flow acrylics, Liquitex High Gloss medium and Varnish.

The Yellow Tail Black Cockatoo is such a magnificent Australian native bird and we are lucky enough to see them flying free around our home.  Living in the beautiful quiet village of Bundeena NSW AUSTRALIA. A village that nestles on the waters edge of the Royal National Park on the outskirts of Sydney CBD.

I hope you like the iridescent colours in the green and blue background. With the black cockatoos a wonderful feeling of flight and freedom.  You will notice the light source will change the colours of the iridescent colours  in the background.  I love the yellow tailed black cockatoos  gentle, magnificently beautiful faces and their flight with their family and their cry out has been said by friends and Indigenous people of the Royal National Park that the cry is said to be the cry of their lost ancestors calling to them from above.    Our family have a strong belief the black cockatoo is our family Totem as whenever there is grief or some special occasion or we chat about our little grandsons Oliver and Liam who where both seperate pregnancies and both little boys were still born.   When we were all going through such grief the Black cockatoos would fly as a flock or in a family of three and fly low passed out windows and call out their mournful cry and they warm out hearts. So that is how the black cockatoo became our families Totem animal.

I give all of myself to my Art and I know when you purchase one of my pieces of Art you will feel the love ooze through into your home keeping you safe and happy.

I really think it is worth the hours put into the layering the paints, mediums and grounds. Also the time it takes for each section or layer to dry as it quite beautiful and so gentle and warmth oozes from these magnificent, gentle and shy  Australian native birds.
