Every Saturday I pick up the paper and walk past this old garage with peeling paint on its old wooden doors. The garage doors are like a portal transporting me back in time to 1950.
In my mind’s eye all the modern cars are gone, and the street is dusty and unpaved. I can hear birds chirping and smell bacon and eggs frying in the kitchen on a gas Meters green and white Kooka stove.
In front of the garage stands a shiny new Bedford PC van, with its wheels turned facing the dusty street. The car has been washed and polished on Saturday afternoon and it is now ready to take the wife out on a Sunday drive. Before they go they will both roll back the black canvass roof and enjoy the sun.
The Bedford van has varnish applied to provide a shine to the vehicle. The remainder of the artwork is in acrylic with no varnish. The work is unframed and I have added a virtual framing suggestion in the gallery.
