Additional Information

This is a simple bold study of a vintage fibro beach shack, much like the one I used to holiday in as a child. I love creating a dark stormy sky because it allows all the block of colour to pop, capturing that moment when the sun hits the dark clouds. It’s a very common occurrence here in Queensland. The painting has lots of texture with the colours roughly applied, exposing enough of the dark infrastructure underneath and suggesting the transient nature of light. These little cottages are fast disappearing along the coastline and I like to paint them before they are gone forever.
