Additional Information

A playful colourful dot painting that was the start of my ‘Dots & Little Things’ series around 1997-2004. Despite all my highbrow artistic ideas, I adore that children love this painting… all the dots remind them of smarties. Too sweet.

One of my first ever paintings focusing on the Benday dots screens used in the mass media. And very heavily influenced by POP Art to boot. I put Newspaper images under magnifying glasses and microscopes and reproduced and manipulated the dots I saw by hand. Each painting becomes these crazy clusters of rhythmic vibrating spots and dots that pulsate throughout pictures space. Reminiscent of dancing molecules and frenzied atoms appearing in my later work.

NOTE: This painting is made up of four securely joined canvas stretchers

ALL PAINTINGS ARE VARNISHED with Professional Quality Artists Varnish, once they have been photographed. This gives a protective surface and an exquisite sheen that really makes the colours powerful & eye-catching.

The painting is on canvas wrapped around traditional wooden stretcher bars with edges that are a smart 2.5cm deep. The edges are cleaned, staple free and painted a neutral colour to compliment the painting.
