Additional Information

This artwork was inspired by pelicans who have become the sentinel guards monitoring commuters entering Narrabeen. They perch on the lights over the bridge and control the border crossing for thousands of commuters making their way from Palm Beach to the Narrabeen peninsula.

An unexpected pleasure for me creating this artwork, apart from painting the proud pelican, was studying the details and design of the street light. This forms the first of my Northern Beaches series of artworks.

Acrylic paint and protected with 3 coats of varnish gloss on stretch canvas frame (unframed). The edge of the canvas frame has been painted in a bright blue to compliment the subject.
