Additional Information

This little forest cutie is an Australian Rufous Fantail. These colourful birds are adorable as they dart around from branch to branch – if you’ve ever seen one, you’ll know they never sit still.

They chirp and whirl as they madly chase insects through the air and the bush. Their spectacular tail fans out in a flash of reddish-brown, as soon as they alight for just a moment – before they’re gone again.

I had never seen one until very recently – and I was so excited to paint this new-to-me species, I completed this painting within a few days from the first time I ever saw them!

The bird’s reddish brown colour is very distinctive, as is the pattern on its chest, which I have painted in great detail. The green moss on the branches contrasts and balances the energetic earthy browns. If you love unique Australian birds, this painting is for you.

This artwork is not yet framed – but I can organise framing upon request, with a professional framer here in Brisbane.  32x25cm.
