Meet Reckless, a scruffy old hare, who’s war wounds and soulful eyes share thoughts of better days past.  Wistful and full of wisdom, my hare is lovingly painted on stretched linen, which peeks through the hare’s fur to add patina.  He is a personal favourite work of mine, and embodies my own artist journey in the ‘Caravan of Curiosities’.

In the last two years I’ve worked on a collaborative regional exhibition that toured Biloela, Gladstone, Gympie and Yeppoon in Queensland.   The collaboration consisted of myself, and two other artists and our travelling exhibition was titled ‘Caravan of Curiosities’. During this period of time I explored many metaphorical works in relation to journey, time travel, mythology and fable. Including the ‘Tortoise and the Hare’ the tale told to learn that being fastest is not always the best, that a journey can be won by the slow and methodical. In my case, the tortoise and the hare took on the ‘Reckless and Relentless’.

This work is an original archival acrylic painting on stretched linen, and comes varnished, and ready to hang on the wall.  This painting will be delivered in a lovely bespoke box for extra protection during postage.
