The sealed roads are barely better than the concealed gravel roads that branch off on the left and right as you come upon the general store/post office/petrol station combo, its these small hinterland towns that remind slow down and enjoy the day. You can’t help but imagine what it would be like to reside in the cottage on the hill with the rocking chair on the front veranda and the tin roof and a cuppa tea during a summer storm.

For me pulling into those small slightly off the highway towns like Tilba Tilba and the way they still feel as though people live not to dissimilar to generations ago, even as the world changes and technology becomes normal, you almost still expect the credit card imprinter to be pulled out from under the petrol station desk. For me these are the types of places along the coastline that ground me and my itchy feet and slow my race to nowhere.
