During my Art studies the environmental endangerment of the turtle was one of my my final assignments for my Art Diploma. So turtles are still a big part of my art practice but they also fascinate me with their interesting colours and body pattern. For this new body of work I am combining fluid acrylic painting with more traditional painting that need a lot more of planning and preparation. First I choose a selection of colours that perfectly go with my planed painting but then still use the experimental pouring techniques in large area of the painting The pouring technique is more controlled but I still let the acrylic mixture work its magic. For this painting I used several different blues and turquoise combined with white acrylic to first lay down the background of he under water scene for back ground of the turtle. The floor of the sea was created with a separate pour of browns, reds and greens over the ocean back ground. The painting was finished by adding some water creatures and the turtle in traditional painting methods to bring a touch of the ocean back into your home
