ARTWORK: ‘Melbourne Through the Mist’
DESCRIPTION: ‘Melbourne Through the Mist’ is a set of three original paintings on stretched linen.
The Melbourne Triptych depicts an aerial view of the city as seen from the top of Eureka Tower.
These paintings are a tribute to the constantly changing city and exemplify the fascination I have for the urban landscape. The juxtaposition of man-made structures and organic forms found in nature is an aesthetic I have been particularly keen to explore through my art.
This panoramic triptych of Melbourne has been inspired by a particularly memorable visit to the Sky Deck at Eureka Tower. Seeing the expansive birds-eye views of the city below and the drama that unfolded in the sky above as clouds swept over the landscape compelled me to capture this visual spectacle on canvas.
The finished paintings are an affectionate representation of a moment in time in the life of ‘Greater Melbourne’.
SIZE: The artwork is made up of 3 adjoining but self-contained panels that are designed to hang together as one continuous panorama measuring 270cm (W) x 150cm (H).
- NB. Each of the 90cm wide x 150cm high panels may also be displayed individually if required, or as a set with some spacing allowed between the three panels. All the panels have been completed as individual units that work both independently, as well as joined together as one continuous image.
An outer frame is not required as the painted area continues around the sides of the canvas.
A combination of oil paint, charcoal and pastel applied to a stretched linen base.
The paintings are wired, ready to hang.
*Viewing the artwork in the Cheltenham studios may be arranged prior to purchase.
