Market Street Exit

An original abstract painting with real maps, created by a Cartographer with 30+ years of mapping experience.

Peta was born in Perth and although she spent her childhood in the Country of WA she lived in Perth nearly 30 years before moving to Melbourne in 2013.

This piece depicts a snippet of the freeway network in the CBD and in particular the section near the Market Street Exit. This particular stretch of road was used a few times a week, when Peta used to take her son to tennis training. It is a very important part of the freeway system as it is near to where the Mitchell, Kwinana and Graham Farmer Freeway coincide, just to the West of the tunnel and north of the CBD.

The colour palette was inspired by Peta’s mother who recently chose some colours as a challenge set by Peta, in isolation.

The map is oriented to North and approximately to scale. Several coats to achieve a quality matt finish.

The painting is continued around the sides of the canvas.

Signed on the front.
