Additional Information

Aussies pride themselves in the fact that Australia is not for the faint hearted, with danger looming around every corner whether it be dropbears, redbacks, brown snakes or crocodiles. I love their light hearted humour and “She’ll Be Right Mate” attitude.  And for True Blue Aussies spring means swooping season… So naturally I was downright appalled to read that some softy complained about a maggie for swooping. So much so that this charismatic creature with high intelligence that was just protecting its young was shot, WHAT!!! I don’t usually pop my head up as I don’t like confrontation but this really disgusted me.

But I don’t want you to leave here all doom and gloom, so here is a beautiful quote from Colin Thiele, Magpie Island.

“A magpie can be happy or sad: sometimes so happy that he sits on a high, high gum tree and rolls the sunrise around in his throat like beads of pink sunlight; and sometimes so sad that you would expect the tears to drip off his beak.”
