Kew Junction

An original abstract painting, created by a Cartographer with 30+ years of mapping experience.

Part of my project to map Melbourne and this one is inspired by the large Kew Junction.
When I first moved to Melbourne in 2013 I couldn’t believe there was a 5 way intersection. And to make it more amazing there was a tram as well.
The colours were selected from visiting the location where I also took notes on shapes, textures and emotions. The red was used to represent the red light that I was waiting for.
The trees are drawn with an acrylic pen to give some interesting detail.

The map is oriented to North and approximately to scale.

The painting is continued around the sides of the canvas.

Signed on the front.
