Beautifully and elegant sunset colours. Earth street art style mixed with stencil figure. A balanced mix of acrylic and spray paint forming palm and banana leaves to create: Karen.
Karen and I studied Graphic Design at the Queensland College of Art. We weren’t friends.
A decade later I started working at Griffith University where Karen had been working for a few years. Being in the worlds smallest office everyday, under-desk heaters cranking and hilarious gossip - we became really close friends. She is elegant and refined. She is brave and driven. She is creative and mysterious.
In this series of work, I interviewed the muse, Karen. I wanted viewers to be able to relate to the subject.
