Additional Information

The inspiration for this work comes from the diversity and complexity of Jupiter’s moons. Dwarfed by the monolithic proportions of the planet, they hold their own in their celestial dance around the gas giant, be they icy, stony, volcanic or even unique in their featurelessness. I imagine the eerie serenade of Camille Saint-Saëns’ “Danse Macabre” when I observe film footage of Jupiter’s moon specks waltzing around her as it’s heaving atmosphere violently distends and compresses their resilient crusts, the great gas storms swirling and pirouetting like a mad orchestra conductor. It is this unapologetic abuse inflicted by Jupiter on Io that has created such brutal beauty.

Part of a series to reverence the wonder and majesty of a universe filled with so many alien landscapes, apocalyptic ‘weather’ conditions, unexplained phenomena and unimaginable colour that the collective mind of humanity could not dream of all that is out there.

Your print will be reproduced on Hahnemühle Torchon 100% α-cellulose paper – guarantees archival standards.
