Additional Information

This work imitates an areal view of a river inlet. A river swollen from heavy rain meeting and entwining with the turquoise tranquillity of the ocean. This brackish water is the meeting of two worlds, that then dissipates into an expanse of calming white. The deep lustrous copper pays homage to the sediment and nutrients that billows from the river mouth. While the gold leaf floats peacefully out to sea. This work engenders a sense of calm inevitability. Two opposing ideas, Saltwater and fresh water, have no other option but to flow seamlessly together. It explores the futility in resisting change and holding on to old feelings. Like mindfulness in practice, this piece encourages you to let your emotions naturally take their course then float away like a leaf floating out to sea. This work is underpinned by the saying “this too shall pass”.

This work has been reinforced with resin on the back for structure.

This elegant piece was created with tones of turquoise and aquas with an iridescent medium, intertwined with metallic copper and gold then further enhanced with gold leaf.

Each piece is gallery wrapped. Each panel is 55 cm x 45cm x 3.5cm.
