  • I Love A Sunburnt Country Framed (2)

Additional Information

As I worked on the colors and shapes of this painting I was reminded of the much loved Australian poem by Dorothea Mackellar, “My Country” where she uses the phrase, “I Love a sunburnt country”
In this painting I stressed Geographic magazine pages with orange power cleaning liquid to create the brown and gold designs of dried earth. The fine sand hill on the left of the painting is made with used coffee grounds adhered to tissue paper. The trees at the top of the painting and the yellow sand hill to the left were textured with crumpled tissue paper. Black and white coloured pencil rubbed across sand paper gave the form to the small rocks in the foreground.

Watercolor, tissue, collage papers, pen and ink on Arches 300gsm cold pressed paper.
