Additional Information

Georgia MacDonald is the lead singer/songwriter from the band Camp Cope, one of the most influential bands in the music scene today.  Daughter of Norm MacDonald from the iconic Australian band Red Gum, Georgia follows in her dads footsteps as a talented musician and activist.

This painting was a finalist in the, ‘Portia Geach Memorial Portrait Award 2018’.  Held at S.H. Ervin Gallery at Sydney’s Observatory Hill, The Rocks.

Below is my artist’s statement;

‘A self confessed introvert, Georgia McDonald prefers quiet spaces to be creative. Her stature in the lime light as lead singer and songwriter of the all-girl indie rock group Camp Cope has gained prominence as a talent and as activists standing up against sexual harassment and gender equality in the music industry. Playing sold out shows at Australia’s most iconic stage, The Sydney Opera House, the song, ‘The Opener’ ironically reflects on constantly being told that woman can’t fill big venues.’

Feature article and front cover for Blank Magazine, October issue, Gold Coast.
