The native flora and fauna still existing on the foreshore of Port Phillip Bay are sturdy, however in my lifetime I have witnessed the decline of the echidna and the blue tongue lizard, ti-tree and coastal banksia to name a few natives once prevalent in Mount Martha. Destruction of habitat and increased influx of apathetic humans has ensured their demise.
