Additional Information

#FAME is an original multimedia artwork that talks about social media and Hollywood.

Yolandi Visser is a South African rapper from the rap-rave group Die Antwoord, I have used her as my subject matter in this piece as she rebels against classic Hollywood, and rose to fame in a different way… mainly by shock value and being downright weird. Its a piece that pretty much says f**k you to fame and the influences it has on peoples lives through obsession and social media.

This piece is a three dimensional sculptural painting. I have built the layers by hand cutting plywood and building a layering system that makes different layers pop out from the artwork. The piece is painted using acrylic paints. I have painted on both the timber and the plexiglass layers. I have also used recycled stainless steel chain to wrap the piece to create an industrial look and feel.

Materials used: Acrylic paint, plywood, plexiglass and stainless steel

This piece is heavy and requires proper hanging techniques to avoid breaking or dropping the piece. Hang from either a beam or a strong mounting that can take 20kg is recommended. The artwork is designed to be hung from the chain at the top of the work. I would advise to get someone experienced with building or engineering to hang this piece if you are unsure how to do so.

Weight of artwork: 17.5kg
