This piece is an original painting created using oils, acrylic and gold leaf on canvas. It is part of a new three piece series exploring the use of intricate hand painted pattern work in conjunction with my signature use of translucent layers of diluted, poured paint. The pattern work is the only part of the work in which I used a paintbrush, the portrait otherwise comes together by pouring paint from jugs and jars in a series of layers. Pipettes are used to drop smaller amounts of paint in more intricate areas.
My series of female portraits aims to confront ideas about femininity, vulnerability and beauty.
The painting is on a high quality stretched canvas in size 120 x 150 cm.
