Additional Information

Efflorescence is the period when flowers start to appear on a plant.

After the current burning of over 5 million hectares of Australia, any sign of new life is a sign of hope and rebirth. Some Australian flora have evolved to rely on bushfires as a means of reproduction. It is said that eucalypts contain flammable oils in their leaves as a way to eliminate competition from less fire-tolerant species. Sadly though, a lot of our native wildlife are suffering and dying. As we pray for rain and relief, our plants and trees will start to rejuvenate bringing hope to our landscape.

This piece is a memorial to what has been a long and tiring battle for our firefighters and our native plants and animals.
