Additional Information

Often in fairytales characters are depicted as heroes or villains but this is not always reflected in life. We are often made up as light and shade, good and evil. I have chosen one of my favourite childhood stories, ‘The Wizard of Oz,’ because of the contrasting central characters, the witch and Dorothy. I wanted to juxtapose symbols from each of these figures in this portrait to highlight that we all have the potential for good and evil but in the end it is the choices we make that determine our identity.
