Additional Information

Original artwork featuring South African bird – Cape Sugarbird. This acrylic piece is inspired by my love for birds, travels and gardens. Its impressionist style is full of texture and layers. The colour palette suits most interiors with pastel background and bright elements in King Protea.

I was intrigued by a striking feature of this little bird. The male Male has a very long tail and inspired me to paint it. It is dependant on the protea nectar and as nesting site, the Cape Sugarbird is endemic to the Western Cape and Eastern Cape.

Its prime source of sustenance is the nectar from protea species which makes the Cape Sugarbird an important pollinator of these plants.

‘Dolce Vita’ means Sweet Life in Italian.
