This original work is the first large work created using my signature use of poured layers of diluted paint on board, instead of canvas. Inspired by recent Colour Studies 3 and 4, I used a very limited colour palette to explore the unique marks of the translucent, diluted oils on this surface. There is a push and pull between representation and abstraction as the painting has large areas of loose, fluid, bleeding paint held within the form of the portrait.
This work is an original piece on board with bracing at the back for support. It comes strung so it can easily be hung on the wall - the sides of the board are painted white.
