Bon Voyage – finalist ANL Maritime Award 2020.  The most recent painting in my migration series –  a series I began in 2015 in response to the ANL Maritime Award Exhibition theme – ‘Humanity’s Relationship to the Sea’.  I have been a finalist in this annual exhibition five times and sold three of the entries at the exhibition. The paintings have been influenced by my childhood migration to Australia in the early 1950s. Streamers feature in most of the works, symbolising broken ties with family and one’s country of birth. Here, they also suggest the passengers’ excitement at beginning a new life in a new country.

The painting is on professionally stretched linen with sturdy stretcher bars.  The edges are painted.
