Additional Information

It’s no secret I’m a bit of a Chinoiserie fanatic – I’ve been drawn to the mysticism of Oriental decoration since I was a small child. This work is me totally indulging my fascination with eastern aesthetics and motifs, while at the same time depicting the Australian flora and fauna that informs my work.

One of my collectors recently described my style as “Chin -Ausserie” and I just loved that description and thought she was spot on. Hence the title “Black Cockatoo Chinausserie” I thought I’d better explain myself incase you think I can’t spell!

This is a watercolour painting on extra fine weave stretched canvas with many hours of intricate mark making. Please check out all the images so you can see the fine detail. I have sealed the work with a protective matt varnish, it has painted sides and is ready to hang unframed, however it would look pretty spectacular in a timber float frame.
