Additional Information

One from my Flora and Fauna series. As I’ve done in all the paintings in this series, I used pointillism to depict the ‘fauna’ component and more traditional, though stylised, brushwork for the ‘flora’ component.  I spend endless, relaxing hours doing the dots with a 000 to 0 sized brush. I listen to soft music while I work and never fail to feel the absolute thrill and elation as my ‘fauna’ emerges.  Then my eyes have a well earned rest when I do the ‘flora’ in a less intense style. The black background and the brilliant colours of the bird’s feathers and the equally stunning colours of the bird of paradise flower have enabled me to create this striking, vivid and bright image.

This one didn’t last long before it sold and I am told that it attracts many favourable comments from those that view in it’s forever home.
