Additional Information

A calming artwork that soothes the soul. Gentle under currents, drifts, ebbs and flows. Shorelines, coral reefs and the waters of life. Patterns on a microscopic and macroscopic scale. I find all these things meditative and worthy of contemplation. Shoreline or reef or cell-life. This painting belongs to my 'Aquatic' Series. Water as a subject, context and formal element seems to often find its way back into my artwork. It reveals my passionate love of the sea and all things briny particularly the influence of the locale where I grew up – overlooking Bass Strait from a hilltop farm at Flinders. My paintings are inspired by microscopic other worlds, macro-worlds and all things aquatic. Particle physics, pulsating atoms, cell growth, minuscule amoebas and of course I can never escape the otherworldliness of underwater sea life. I grew up in and by the sea at Flinders. Ultimately the paintings are about our sense of awe and wonder at these miraculous building blocks of life. Jacquelyn Stephens is a Melbourne based artist who has been successfully exhibiting her paintings for over 20 years since completing a BFA in Painting at the Victorian College of the Arts. Over the years she has had several successful solo and group exhibitions in commercial galleries and artists run spaces. Her paintings can be seen in many media publications and are held in private collections worldwide. All paintings are varnished with Professional Quality Artists Varnish, once they have been photographed. This gives a protective surface and an exquisite sheen that really makes the colours powerful & eye-catching   FRAMING IS NICE BUT NOT NECESSARY. The painting is on primed canvas wrapped around traditional wooden stretcher bars with edges that are a smart 3.5cm deep. The edges are cleaned, staple free and painted a rich black to compliment the painting. If you would like it framed it can be arranged at an additional cost. Painting is signed, titled and dated on the rear side and ready to hang with picture wire across the back.   Some FEEDBACK from my artwork sold online: 'Beautiful piece!
