At The Edge …

“It is at the edge of a petal that love waits.”
– William Carlos Williams
Claude Monet said, ‘I perhaps owe flowers to becoming a painter’. Surely, flowers are nature’s most exquisite, varied, perfumed and most delicate of species with the power to turn feelings into tears of awe or sorrow. My aim is to capture the feeling flowers give me. I have laughed out loud at a hardy little purple weed growing in the middle of the road, in bitumen, cried when a sunflower bloomed and reminded me of Ben, prayed when a new shoot burst through the soil and promised a surprise.

“It’s so curious: one can resist tears and ‘behave’ very well in the hardest hours. But then someone makes you a friendly sign behind a window, or one notices that a flower that was in bud only yesterday has suddenly blossomed, or a letter slips from a drawer… and everything collapses. ”
