  • Kim Rees Alice Theres A Giraffe In The Windown And Its Eating Your Daffodils

Additional Information

Alice theres a giraffe in the window and its eating your daffodils – thats nice dear – Oil on canvas by Kim Rees. Another resurrected painting, reworked in the age of corona. It didn’t hit the spot so left incomplete for a couple of years. Original intention was for a tranquil and restful still life with a limited colour palette, following a rash of brightly coloured loud works…  The end result at the time however was just plain dull, so it sank to a back wall, waiting patiently along with a bunch of others in the same boat. Now the collection of unfinished works has grown alarmingly so my task is to ‘finish’ them before I start something new. So it needed something to brighten it up – what more incongruous in Australia than a giraffe leaning through an open window munching on a vase of flowers.

We’re all guilty of only half listening at times and also wonder if we’re seeing things sometimes. Just for fun.

This work is just completed and needs to dry before varnish coats applied and shipping – ready end of May.
