This original highly textured and very contemporary floral painting was inspired by the large plantings of irises around our ponds. They grow in large clumps and when flowering are an amazing sight. They look very natural growing around the ponds and my aim was to convey their wild habitat with texture, eathy colours and some abstraction. The painting is large and in colours which would sit naturally in any setting and would not clash with any colour in its proximity. The painting is done on a large sheet of thin mesh attached to the canvas which gives the texture. It is on a very thick stretched canvas which strong stretcher bars.
