Valentino Sheik by Sergio Paul Ianniello – Pop Art Portrait

In 1926 The Son of the Sheik stirred audiences and has become a significantly aesthetic, iconic slice of cinema. Rudolph Valentino and Vilma Banky lit up the silver screen in a romantic fantasy that resonated with world-wide audiences. While poor-quality prints of the movie can be seen today, I considered what impact the movie had on audiences back in the 1920s. Through the use of subjective colour and aesthetically charged pareidolia, I have aimed to interpret the famous image in a fresh way with the aim of recreating the same interest and excitement the original image brought to audiences back in the time of the film’s release.

All my paintings are on professional-quality canvas, stretched over a wooden frame and ready to hang. I use high-quality paint and medium during the painting process to maintain the beautiful colours and longevity of my work. My paintings come with a Certificate of Authenticity. Delivery of my work is insured and securely packaged with several layers of thick bubble wrap in a sturdy cardboard box or wooden crate.
