Synopsis
This body of work progresses through the exploration of my phobia of snakes. Living on the Sunshine Coast, I am in the heartland of the snake. The Python Series was the first few artworks painted for this body of work. Looking at the snake pattern and form, I painted some smaller works to explore the layering of colour, pattern, stencil style and the snake skin print.
I used snake skin stencils sprayed with spray paint and an actual snake skin, which was flattened, painted and rolled onto the canvas (white). The touching of the snake skin to print texture was a huge step forward in conquering this phobia.
